The news from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend stopped me cold.
Gunshots where people should’ve been laughing, connecting, just being human. Hearts racing. Secret Service rushing in. And suddenly that ripple hits all of us—shock, worry, that familiar knot in the chest.
How It Hits the Body and Mind
I know how it lands in the body. One minute you’re moving through your day, the next you’re glued to the screen, mind spinning with what-ifs, anger, or this heavy sadness for everyone involved. It’s so normal. So human. And yeah, it can leave you drained before you even notice.
The Practice That Actually Helps
That’s why I’m gently reminding us right now: come back to the practice. Continuous Meditative Asana. Stay in the moment. Don’t think. Just breathe. Feel your feet on the ground. Let the asana hold you steady when the world feels anything but.
It’s the anchor that quiets the storm. Every single time we remember to return.
What Changes When You Keep Practicing
I’ve watched this simple return to presence change so many lives. People who used to get hijacked by every headline or family drama? They move through their days steadier now. Clearer. More rested. The reactivity just… fades.
It’s not about escaping the world. It’s about meeting it from a calmer, more aligned place. What would your days feel like with that kind of grounded clarity—even on the hardest ones?
Drop it in the comments. I read every single one. Love hearing how you’re showing up for yourself.
