Within these tender early days of March 2026, the events unfolding in the Middle East capture the hearts of all everywhere: the lives touched, the families grieved for, the uncertainty spreading like the ripples on the oceans and the sky. From a distance or from close proximity, we all feel the impact in our own way: a tightness in the chest, a restlessness in the mind, a longing for peace that is just beyond our grasp.

Here in Boca Raton, with the first light of the morning on the Atlantic horizon, I am aware of this sense of tenderness in all of you: the unrest in the world impacting us from within, touching the nervous systems, obscuring the ease with which we normally move through our days.
In our practice together, we most often return to the gentle foundations that hold us steady:
- #1: Relax
- #2: Practice Daily
- #3: Breath with Every Move
- #4: Continuous Meditative Asana – Stay in the moment. Don’t think.
These beautiful steps invite softening, consistency, breath-union, and pure presence—a loving path we walk side by side through everyday life.
But in these moments, in this sense of collective heart feeling so stirred, I find myself going directly to Guideline #9: Embrace Stillness.
This is to go beyond the pain and sit in the moment as an act of compassion. We do this for ourselves, for each of us caught in the waves, for the whole hurting world. War and conflict agitate us deeply. They bring inner noise, emotional waves, a sense of stillness taken from us.
But stillness is never truly lost. It is the vast, unchanging space beneath every wave. Like rising to a quiet mountain top at dawn—above the storm yet still connected to the earth below—we can choose to rest here. In seated meditation as the sun rises, in supported rest, or in a simple pause with eyes closed, we return to the silent witness within. The fears, the headlines, the “what ifs”—they pass like mist over mountain peaks. What remains is an abiding peace, untouched and ever-available.
From this elevated stillness flows genuine compassion: the capacity to hold tender space for those in direct harm, for those grieving, for all of us feeling the echoes—without being swept into more agitation. This is where true stillness resides, clarity arises, and where love can move freely.
Today, I invite you with an open heart: Come to your mat, or simply find a quiet place. Let any movement soften into stillness. No need to strive or perfect. Just arrive, breathe, and rest in the quiet. Watch the restlessness gently rise and dissolve. Feel yourself rising above it all, like on a sacred mountain top, held in vast perspective yet rooted in care.
This stillness is your refuge. It is here for you, for me, for everyone.
We meet on the beach every morning from 7:00 to 8:00 AM at the South Beach Park Pavilion in East Boca. If you would like to join, sign up via Eventbrite or Meetup.Â
