Amid Rising Costs and Global Wars, Health is the True Wealth.

These days the weight of rising oil prices and ongoing global tensions touches so many lives. The poor feel this most deeply—working longer hours, stretching every dollar thinner, carrying the heaviest load while government help comes slowly, if at all. This is especially true in poorer countries where in the last month diesel fuel, for example, has gone from $1 per liter to $2 per liter. For those of us living in wealthier countries, we may not realize how this globally disrupts the lives of the poor.

And still, a quiet, unshakable truth rises above it: Health is Wealth. The real riches live inside us—the vitality that lets us fully receive the simple, sacred moments of life. No fortune, no matter how vast, can deepen the joy of being truly present if the body is tense and the breath shallow.

Picture this: You open a book you love, or sit watching the first light touch the Atlantic, colors spreading soft across the water. In that exact moment of immersion, the pleasure is complete. The wealthiest person on earth, turning the same page or gazing at the same horizon, feels no more joy if their shoulders are knotted, their mind racing. But when you relax—when you soften the body and let the breath flow freely—the moment opens wider. Joy arrives naturally, fully, equally. That is the wealth no one can take away.

This is why Guideline #1—Relax—matters so much right now. Relaxation builds the foundation for everything else we cherish: clarity, strength, delight in the everyday. It’s not about pretending the world isn’t pressing in. It’s about creating space inside so we can meet life with an open heart.

Find a comfortable spot, a quiet place, even your bed, and gently move into your practice, . Lie back in a supported position: a bolster or folded blanket under your knees, another under your heart if that feels good. Let gravity hold you. Let go of the worries of the world. Let go of any tension: shoulders dropping, jaw relaxing, chest opening. Inhale slowly through your nose, breathing in peace, health, and love. Exhale through the nose, letting go of all tension, thoughts and worries, leaving only peace in your heart.

We return to this practice every morning on the beach. The ocean keeps moving, steady and unconcerned with headlines. As we guide our bodies to relax into the sand, the same steadiness rises within. The breathing slows and the mind quiets. Vitality returns. And suddenly, the smallest things become treasures: the warmth of sunlight on skin, the sound of a friend’s voice, the simple act of breathing deeply.

You carry this wealth within you. Relaxing and training daily is something you can return to again, and again. When you do, an internal shift happens. Your natural health and happiness begin to return from within. Through your practice your body becomes younger, you enjoy the simple pleasures in life, and you become wealthier than you ever dreamed. Relax, train daily, and breathe.

You are wealthy in the ways that matter most.
